A Trip for a Champion

Our Children's Miracle Network Champion Child Hunter had an incredible time at Children’s Hospitals Week! It gave him and his family the chance to meet other kids who have been affected by illness and conquered tremendous obstacles in their health care journeys.

First stop on their Ottawa tour: a local Walmart.

The champions were greeted by the Walmart staff with cheers and confetti.

Hunter receives his vest and nametag, officially becoming part of the Walmart family!

Thanks to Walmart, Hunter had a $500 shopping spree and personal employees to assist him. He enthusiastically filled his cart with Nerf guns, LEGO and Star Wars light sabres.

After a morning full of shopping, the Champions head to Parliament Hill.

Hunter had the chance to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and take a selfie!

After a fun-filled day in Ottawa, the Champions were ready for the next leg of the trip. Despite a bright and early wake up call, they all boarded their Air Canada flight with smiles as they took off for Orlando.

Once the Champions arrived in Orlando, they had a magical week ahead of them at Disney with lots of fun events planned.

Hunter and his mom, Jessica, shared their story live on stage at the Children’s Hospitals Week Live-athon, hosted by dancer Allison Holker and freestyle hip-hop dancer, entertainer and actor tWitch.

Hunter was the real celebrity at the pin exchange. He gave out autographs, posed for pictures and gave high fives.

To end an incredible week, Hunter received his Champions medal to award him for his resiliency, bravery and commitment to raising awareness for his local children’s hospital.

Children’s Hospitals Week highlights the vital work of children’s hospitals to members of Children’s Miracle Network corporate partners and gives our Champions the opportunity to share their incredible stories.

Thank you to Walmart Canada and Air Canada Foundation for sponsoring this once-in-a-lifetime experience that we know Hunter will never forget!
