On December 4, 2024, Ironstone Building Company presented Children’s Health Foundation with a $20,000 gift as part of its Ironstone Impact Campaign, a community improvement initiative now in its fourth year.
The Ironstone Impact campaign began in 2020 to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Annually, community members submit their favourite local charities to be considered as recipients of Ironstone’s campaign and each year, Children’s Health Foundation has been honoured to be selected as a recipient.
Selected as the Ironstone Building Company’s Staff Pick this year, Children’s Health Foundation received $20,000. To date, Ironstone has donated $62,500 to support Children’s Health Foundation. Last year, Ironstone chose to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Children’s Hospital with their gift. This year’s gift will be directed towards supporting Paediatric Oncology at Children’s Hospital.
Ironstone’s gift will have an impact on the Paediatric Oncology Program’s transformational initiatives to reimagine oncology care spaces and provide dedicated staff and advanced equipment.
The Paediatric Oncology Program at Children’s Hospital unfortunately remains a busy department. This year alone, 70 children will be newly diagnosed with cancer, 150 children will undergo active therapy and over 300 survivors will be monitored for relapse. In 2023-24, the Paediatric Oncology Program saw over 5,000 patient visits, including over 130 inpatients for a cumulative total of more than 3,100 days.
Our heartfelt thanks to Ironstone Building Company and to the community for their continued support of Children’s Hospital. Your unwavering determination to create better futures for children and families in London and across Ontario inspires us all. The Ironstone Impact campaign does indeed make a significant impact.
