Sick children are getting an assist from the London Knights Hockey Club and the London Knights Alumni Foundation.
The London Knights are donating $100,000 toward the Child Life Program at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre.
Child Life Specialists are skilled professionals who help children and their families manage difficult health care journeys. Their guidance helps patients to feel less anxiety, stress and fear in hospital and mitigates trauma.
“The Knights are proud to continue to support Children’s Hospital and the great work they do in our community. We know the donation will go directly to helping kids and their families and that is important to the Knights as an organization,” says Mark Hunter, the London Knights general manager.
The Child Life Program is almost entirely funded by donations to Children’s Health Foundation.
“The London Knights are champions for Londoners on and off the ice. We are sincerely grateful to them for standing by our kids,” says Scott Fortnum, President and CEO, Children’s Health Foundation. “During the global COVID-19 pandemic, patients at Children’s Hospital continue to face life-threatening and life-limiting health conditions. Their challenges will be easier because of the generosity of our community. Every donation ensures our children receive the best possible care.”
