About Children's Hospital, LHSC

Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) provides expert care to the most medically complex and critically ill paediatric patients from across Western Ontario. It is the third largest paediatric hospital in Canada, annually serving more than 66,000 children and families. Our medical professionals have the expertise to offer world-class care in more than 30 different medical specialties and sub-specialties.

Children’s is an epicentre for adolescent medical care, with about 25,000 youth aged 10 to 18 years old cared for annually, and the primary hub for child and adolescent mental health care in our region. These children and their families come from a vast geographical area which includes urban and rural areas, spanning from Windsor to Kitchener/Waterloo and Thunder Bay, and remote communities in Northern Ontario.

Children’s is also a vital contributor to education and research, with the second largest paediatric residency program in Ontario, and its world-renowned research arm, Children’s Health Research Institute (CHRI), the third-largest hospital-based child health research institute in Canada. CHRI is a program of Lawson Health Research Institute with affiliation to Western University, where dedicated teams work to uncover the causes, cures and long-term effects of childhood health challenges.
