Thirty years ago, a few eager volunteers came together to create a brand new charity golf tournament and what a success it’s been!
On the evening of July 8, valued supporters in our community came together for the social highlight of the summer – the RBC Children’s Golf Classic Cocktail Reception and Auction! Attendees sought to be the highest bidder on a multitude of exclusive auction items all in support of Children’s Hospital, Thames Valley Children’s Centre and Children’s Health Research Institute.
To mark the 30th anniversary of this event, and in support of the 30,000 children that visit Children’s Hospital each year, an anonymous donor came forward with a very generous $30,000 donation – if attendees could match it.
Day two of the RBC Children’s Golf Classic featured the invitational tournament at Sunningdale Golf & Country Club. On July 9, golfers took to the pristine greens for a pleasurable round filled with networking, entertainment and delicious food.
The evening was capped with dinner plus live and silent auctions. The goal of $30,000 was reached by our attendees and a total of $360,000 (net) was raised for kids’ health in our region bringing the 30 year total to over $5.1 million.
After 30 years, this event continues to be a summer highlight for our community. It isn’t just a golf tournament. It is an opportunity to ensure better childhoods for kids in our community facing serious health issues.
