On August 21, 2021, Gwen is turning six and had a very grown-up request for her birthday.
Her brother, Daniel is her best friend, and no one means more to her. She has watched him struggle with a rare autoinflammatory disease all her life. She knows that her cord blood has been banked as insurance for his future, and she has always been there at his appointments and procedures as his biggest cheerleader.
COVID changed that; this year she wasn’t allowed to go, she was asked to stay home, and she couldn’t support him in ways she knew how. Instead, she sent him encouraging video messages and helped make dinner for when we got home from hospital.
But she has asked if she can do more. She is hosting a lemonade stand and bake sale to raise money for Pediatric Rheumatology at London Children’s Hospital.
This team has been Daniel’s primary care team for the majority of his journey. The funds raised will go to provide much needed equipment, education, and research that will go towards providing the BEST care for Daniel and all the other kids in Rheumatology who need care.
Gwen is so excited to be doing something to help, so come on down and grab some lemonade and some tasty treats and wish this sweet girl a Happy 6th Birthday!
