Inspired by the care her son received at Children’s Hospital; Laurie made a gift in her Will.
Every family should be given the best chance to be happy and healthy together, believes longstanding Children’s Health Foundation supporter, Laurie Harmer.
“Every moment with our families is a blessing,” she says. “I cherish every day I had with my son, and I wish the same opportunity for others.”
Acting on her belief, Laurie made the visionary and generous step to leave a transformational gift in her Will in support of Children’s Hospital, and the families who rely on the world-class medical facility.
Laurie knows first-hand the tremendous impact Children’s has for our community. Her son, Brandyn, was born with conditions affecting his spine and brain.
His life expectancy was estimated at the age of eight based on all his medical complications, but Brandyn defied the odds, living to 31 years old. Laurie credits her son’s never-ending will to live and the exceptional care provided by Children’s Hospital.
Laurie says adding a gift to her Will was simple. She reached out to Vicki Hayter, Director of Legacy Giving at Children’s Health Foundation, who supplied her with the best wording. Her lawyer was then able to easily draft her wishes.
“Being able to honour Brandyn in this way means a lot to me,” says Laurie. “I will be forever grateful for all Children’s Hospital has done for me and my family.”
