When Petra’s parents first heard the words intrauterine growth restriction, their world shifted. Doctors explained that their tiny daughter might not survive. At just 23 weeks, she weighed only 250 grams, so small her parents could hardly imagine how she might ever grow strong.

When she was born at 28 weeks and 4 days, weighing 620 grams, her parents saw that small number as something extraordinary — a sign that she had already overcome so much.
