Little Emery is a fighter!
Born six weeks before her due date, she required immediate intervention in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital and was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease and DiGeorge Syndrome.
Her tiny heart was severely damaged.
Children’s Hospital took care of her right away, from detecting her condition in utero to caring for her after her heart surgery in Toronto. Now, they check-in on her every six months.
However, her story continues. Emery’s condition also resulted in her being born without a thymus, so her immune system does not function well. She also is having trouble with her airway and lungs. Her teams at Children’s are dedicated to finding answers for her and her family.
Listen to Emery’s story at Corus Radiothon on February 5 to learn how Children’s Hospital is supporting her through her illnesses.
