Children’s Health Foundation receives the Children’s Miracle Network Award for Canada’s Hospital Foundation of the Year.

Children’s Health Foundation, fundraising partner to Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, TVCC and Children’s Health Research Institute, has been awarded Canada’s Hospital Foundation of the Year at this year’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Conference in Orlando, Florida.

This honour is reserved for one children’s hospital foundation and recognizes their significant philanthropic impact, which bolsters the care provided to children in their hospital. Since 1922, Children’s Health Foundation has been a driver of health care excellence at Children’s Hospital by inspiring our community to bridge the gap between what the government funds and the leading-edge equipment, education, patient support programs and research that create better childhoods for kids facing life-threatening or life-limiting diagnoses.

“Each show of support and appreciation for Children’s Health Foundation’s philanthropic work means more support for our talented and dedicated clinicians at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre. Our work helps provide the resources Children’s needs to continue saving the lives of young patients and provide hope for their families,” says Jennifer Baxter, Director, Community Relations and Children’s Miracle Network.

Children’s Health Foundation’s dedicated team of 22 is thrilled with how this award pays homage to both the foundation’s rich 100-year history and the impact of our community’s generosity. In the 2021 to 2022 fiscal year alone, Children’s Health Foundation raised 16.8 million dollars for their health care partners, including 7.3 million for Children’s Hospital. 35 percent of that revenue was thanks to Children’s Miracle Network and other crucial corporate partnerships.

“We are thrilled that with our 100-year anniversary just behind us, Children’s Health Foundation’s dedication and impact is being recognized by our national partners. We want to thank both Children’s Miracle Network and Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations for this prestigious award, as well as our generous community, for making our philanthropic legacy possible.” says Jennifer Baxter.

As Children’s Health Foundation donors, our generous community members help support crucial needs at Children’s Hospital, which transforms our kids’ health care journeys. Recently, Children’s Health Foundation has been delighted to:

  • Celebrate one-year with the ROSA One Robotic Arm. Operated by our talented neurosurgeons and epilepsy team, this equipment makes it possible for Children’s Hospital professionals to cure paediatric patients of their epilepsy – with approximately 10 patients receiving this life-changing surgery.
  • Fund the Paediatric Transport Isolette that helps Children’s staff reach vulnerable infants across the province and bring them to our leading-edge Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Enhance patient and family support programs like the Paediatric Family Resource Centre in helping arrange accommodations and meals for families when options for a safe place to stay, or finding a filling meal, has become limited and expensive.
  • Continue ground-breaking research like PRECIPICE that aims to prevent kids’ acute pain from needle pokes or difficult procedures developing into chronic pain

Overall, Children’s Health Foundation donors help fund life-saving equipment, specialized education and training opportunities, patient support programs and leading-edge research projects. Children’s Health Foundation is proud to inspire our community to contribute to health care excellence at Children’s Hospital.

“Ultimately, receiving the Children’s Miracle Network Award for Canada’s Hospital Foundation of the Year is an exemplary showing of how our dedicated staff at Children’s Health Foundation, and it’s incredible donors, strengthen and transform care for our kids at Children’s Hospital,” shares Scott Fortnum, President and CEO of Children’s Health Foundation. “We are overjoyed to continue supporting our health care partners and continue rallying our community to support the best possible care and most possible hope for our kids and their families.”

Thank you to our volunteers and our dedicated board members. We also want to thank our generous donors, partners and our amazing community.

Without you, transforming children’s health care would not be possible.
