New simulation mannequins will help Children’s Hospital teams train for the moments when every second counts.
When a child’s life hangs in the balance, there is no room for trial and error. That is why the Michael Gunning Simulation Centre is so important. It gives new and seasoned frontline teams a realistic, high-stakes environment where they can sharpen skills, strengthen teamwork and prepare for critical situations before they happen in real life. The centre trains roughly 2,400 learners each year and now reaches 33 community hospitals across the region through outreach education.

At the heart of this training are life-like medical mannequins that respond like real patients. But the newborn mannequin used in many urgent scenarios is older than the centre itself and no longer functions reliably when teams need it most. Support is needed for a new SimBaby and SimNewborn, which will help teams practise neonatal resuscitation, airway management, IV insertion, intubation, defibrillation and other critical interventions in a safe learning environment.
With $160,000 needed this year to support the Simulation Centre, your gift can help ensure hospital teams are ready when a child’s life depends on it.
